Dating from the late 1960s/early 1970s here is a bone china coffee trio (consisting of a coffee cup, saucer and matching teaplate) in the brilliant 'Amanda' design from Ridgway - a very decorative and brightly coloured flower-power design onto a bright white ground - the cup is a very funky shape with a much smaller base section than top.

Retro Ceramics - British

Midwinter Potteries, established in Burslem, Stoke on Trent in 1910, had just 20 years later grown to be one of the largest potteries in England employing hundreds of staff. Like a lot of established English potteries it eventually ceased trading in the 1980's and as a result Midwinter pottery items now enjoy a huge surge of interest with prices for what are now considered the more significant designs steadily increasing and showing no signs of slowing down.

Our particular interest in Midwinter lie lie in the 1950's, 1960's and 1970's and in particular in the designs of the legendary Jessie Tait (responsible for the highly collectable Zambesi and Primavera ranges amongst others and who was responsible for the majority of Midwinter designs having worked there for nearly 30 years) as well as Terence Conran, John Russell and Hugh Casson - all of whom designed now highly sought after ranges for Midwinter Pottery.

We are very pleased to be able to offer you a selection of what we consider to be some of the best Midwinter Pottery, Ironstone and other Staffordshire ceramics designs from the latter half of the 20th century.
