This is a highly collectable ceramic tile designed by Kenneth Townsend, the brother of Dennis Townsend of Rye and Iden Potteries fame.  With a white ground and decorated with a fabulous stylised hedgehog in brown and black glazes it dates from the 1960s or thereabouts and is fully marked to the reverse.   Please see all photographs for extra views and close-ups.

CONDITION:  Lovely original condition with no chips, cracks or hairlines.

This is the section you'll find them. Some companies we've never heard of, others we have heard of but only rarely come across their items - some things aren't even marked. So this is a great section for all those pieces of crazy, British retro/vintage ceramics that we can't attribute or only have a very few pieces of - it makes for very interesting browsing. Each piece is chosen with the same criteria for inclusion as every other piece. We look at the shape, colour, style, technique, decorative appeal and, most importantly, quality. We only choose pieces we like - the funkier the better and whilst we may not know much about them we know they belong here in Pips Trip.
