1960s Bitossi Pottery (Italy) Blue & White Waisted Vase - BIT-BLUEWHITEVASE
£45.00

A very attractive piece of Bitossi and slightly unusual in having a white glazed band with a sgraffito design in between the more customary Rimini Blu glaze to the top and bottom.  A very decorative piece that sits beautifully in both contemporary and retro-inspired interiors.

SIZE:  Height 8in/20cm

CONDITION:  Beautiful original condition - with no chips, cracks or hairlines. There is a manufacturing 'flaw' to the rim in one place (basically an overglazed dent) mentioned for accuracy but totally insignificant in our opinion.  Shown to the right of the close-up rim photograph.

Retro Ceramics - Italian

This section is devoted to the truly fabulous and unique studio ceramics that were made in Italy post 1950 and designed by some legendary names like Aldo Londi and Piero Fornasetti amongst others. Many items originally produced as tourist ware they have now become the epitome of retro chic - from the Rimini Blu range with it's trademark rough surface textures and repeating impressed designs on pots, plates, birds and animals to the high camp kitsch of fifties jugs and pots painted and embellished with high gloss glazes, textures and designs.

They sit brilliantly amongst other types of studio pottery from the same period, in particular the Fantoni/Gambone glazed and scraffito high gloss glazed items as well as the unique and highly distinctive ceramics being manufactured in West Germany at the same time. If displayed all together they look truly iconic and are, we believe, a collecting tip for the future - we intend to bring you as many of the funkiest pieces of Italian studio pottery and ceramics as we are able to - check back often for new additions.
