This is really groovy - a small cylindrical Italian ceramic pot with a lava/volcanic type black and white glaze all around except for the front panel of a bright red splashy ground, a matt black panel decorated with a 1960s girl with yellow, orange and green gloss glazes. A very pretty and truly iconic piece of retro Italian pottery. Marked to the base in white with 'LIBERTAS, REP. S. MARINO'. Please see all photographs for alternative views and close-ups.

CONDITION: Great original condition - no chips, cracks or hairlines.

Retro Ceramics - Italian

This section is dedicated to the incredible and iconic designs from the Italian ceramic masters Marcello Fantoni, Guido Gambone and his son Bruno Gambone, as well as the many unidentified and unmarked Italian studio ceramics 'in the style of' designed and manufactured during the 1950's, 1960's and 1970's. This is a very exciting area of ceramics with the kitsch and modernist themes, colours, textures and glazes lending themselves extremely well to contemporary interiors. Pieces are becoming highly collectable resulting in rising prices and items becoming scarcer and harder to find. However, we're constantly on the lookout for these types of Italian ceramics and hope to bring you many pieces with the right 'look' and pedigree (if not always necessarily by Gambone or Fantoni).

Make sure you keep checking back here for new pieces and have a browse through some of our other ceramic sections for ceramics produced outside Italy that were quite obviously influenced by the same inspirations. These types of pottery sit particularly well with other Italian ceramics like Bitossi and Raymor as well as the brilliant ceramics from West Germany from the same period.
