1960s Italian Pottery Ashtray with a Leather Backing - ITALIANGIRLASHTRAY
£18.50

This is a great piece of pottery - obviously Italian, from the 1960s and similar to the production from the Republic of San Marino although not from that region I suspect.  I haven't yet been able to pin this type of pottery down to a maker or region - sometimes it's mistaken for the work of Fantoni, some pieces have even had his 'signature' added at a later stage - however, that's merely wishful thinking at best - they're not by Fantoni.  This one takes a fabulously curvy form, is decorated with a groovy girl and the base is covered in a dark leather (a fairly customary feature for this type of pottery).

SIZE:  Length  7.5in/19.5cm

CONDITION:  Good original/used condition - there are a few nibbles to the edge in places and the leather backing is rather scruffy however this has been reflected well in the asking price.

Retro Ceramics - Italian

This section is dedicated to the incredible and iconic designs from the many Italian studios during the latter half of the 20th Century. In particular we stock items from Bertoncello and the San Marino potteries as well as items from some of the many unidentified Italian studio potteries in production during the 1950's, 1960's and 1970's. This is a very exciting area with the kitsch and modernist themes, colours, textures and glazes lending themselves extremely well to contemporary interiors. We're constantly on the lookout for these types of Italian ceramics and hope to bring you many pieces with the right 'look' and pedigree.

These types of ceramics sit particularly well with other Italian makes like Bitossi as well as the crazy ceramics from West Germany during the same period.
