c: 1972 Mdina (Malta) Rare Amethyst Strapped Cylindrical Vase, Signed - MDINA-AMETHYST
This is an extremely unusual combination of colours for Mdina, more usually known for their meditteranean inspired shades of blue and turquoise - this particular vase, however, is a vibrant purple glass (known as amethyst) with yellowy veins and vibrant blue running through with amethyst strapping to the outside. It's a fabulous piece in a tall cylindrical shape - again a rare shape for Mdina and although signed, which dates this to after Michael Harris left, it's still an early piece dating from the early 1970's. An absolute must-have for any Mdina collection. Please see all photographs for alternative views and close-ups.
SIZE: Height 7.75in/20cm Rim 3.25in/8cm Weight 760g
CONDITION: In fantastic condition overall - there is a small original manufacturing flaw to the rim (looks like a tong mark) and a smooth feeling chip to the underside of the base next to the signature (can be seen in base close-up photograph).
