This is an extremely decorative green glass bowl designed in 1964 by Rudolf Jurnikl for the Rudolfova Hut Glassworks, part of the Sklo Union, pattern number 13250/150 (it matches the clear glass hobnail jardiniere listed below). With the hobnail design to the centre it's an extremely decorative piece of retro glass and has the typical Sklo Union welled-base feature. Still bearing it's original gold foil 'Bohemia Glass - Made in Czechoslovakia' label to the centre of the bowl.

CONDITION: Excellent undamaged condition with no chips, cracks or fleabites.

SIZE: Square 5.25in/13cm x 5.25in/13cm Weight 1280g

Retro Glass - Sklo Union (Czech)

Here we are proud to offer an exciting selection of the fabulous retro pressed glass from the Sklo Union glass works, Czechoslovakia and dating mostly from the 1960's and 1970's.

Sklo Union, formed in 1965, consisted of a number of Czech glassworks including Hermanova Hut, Rosice, Libochovice and Rudolfova Hut and were responsible for producing incredibly modernist designed glassware, seemingly way ahead of their time, and designed by legendary names such as Frantisek Vizner, Vladislav Urban, Rudolf Jurnikl, Adolf Matura and Frantisek Peceny amongst others.

This is an area of glass we are hugely excited about and believe will become increasingly more appreciated, documented and collected as time goes on. Our very grateful thanks to Marcus Newhall, researcher and writer at www.sklounion.com, for his very generous assistance in helping us to learn more about this fascinating area of glass. Marcus is currently writing a book about Sklo Union glass, the result of many years research, which is due to be published soon. We're hoping to be selling copies of Marcus's book here so, as soon as we have a firm publication date and further information, we will let you know. Watch this space!
