This is a brilliant large bowl from the Sklo Union glassworks, Czechoslovakia, and dating from the 1960's.  This is an impressive and heavy piece of retro glass (the sides are over half an inch thick) and moulded all over with a modernist type repeating pattern of bumps/nipples, including the underside.  It has the typical Sklo Union glass footed 'birdbath' base - a brilliant piece of glass that displays beautifully!

Retro Glass - Sklo Union (Czech)
Here we are proud to offer an exciting selection of the fabulous retro pressed glass from the Sklo Union glass works, Czechoslovakia and dating mostly from the 1960s and 1970s.

Sklo Union, formed in 1965, consisted of a number of Czech glassworks including Hermanova Hut, Rosice, Libochovice and Rudolfova Hut and were responsible for producing incredibly modernist designed glassware, seemingly way ahead of their time, and designed by legendary names such as Frantisek Vizner, Vladislav Urban, Rudolf Jurnikl, Adolf Matura and Frantisek Peceny amongst others.

This is an area of glass we are hugely excited about and believe will become increasingly more appreciated, documented and collected as time goes on. Our very grateful thanks to Marcus Newhall, researcher and writer for his very generous assistance in helping us to learn more about this fascinating area of glass and, of course, his friendship.
