Here is a large Hornsea Pottery anvil shaped vase (with original coated wire frog insert) from the 'Cascade' range designed by the legendary John Clappison and manufactured for a very short period from 1964 to 1965. In a highly collectable shape it's decorated to the lower section with a very dark blue irridescent type oil glaze and towards the rim is a fabulous pale blue glaze applied to give a drippy effect - this continues for an inch or two inside the rim. It has a lovely high gloss finish overall and is an extremely decorative item which would be a valuable addition to any Hornsea or studio pottery collection. Not marked to the base or, quite possibly it is but the glazes have obscured the mark which would have been impressed. Please see all photographs for alternative views and close-ups.
SIZE: Height 7.25in/18cm Width at rim 11.75in/30cm Weight 772g
