Dating between 1966 and 1968 (we can be specific about this date because the paintress changed her monogram in 1969) here is a nice early Delphis ashtray (shape number 86) painted by the Poole paintress, Carole Holden (Beach) who worked on the Delphis range until 1969 when she moved onto the Aegean range. With a fabulous lightly textured glaze to the surface in dark grey and black on a bright orange ground and with a cream coloured 'pie-crust' edge - this an extremely decorative piece of retro pottery and was made before Poole started to limit the Delphis range of colours and textured surfaces post 1971. Fully marked to the base with the blue Poole backstamp, the paintress' monogram and the shape no. 86. Please see all photographs for alternative views and close-ups.
