From Buchan Pottery in Scotland, and dating to pre-1971 which is when Buchan ceased production of Portobello items, here is a fabulous large stoppered decanter decorated in their well-known Thistle pattern. Made from stonewear and hand painted with thistles, flowers and leaves this is an extremely attractive item. With a grey/pale blue coloured glazed ground with the main thistle decoration to one side and a smaller design of bluebells to the other it is immediately identifiable as Buchan - it is also fully marked to the base with 'BUCHAN Portobello Scotland, Finest Stoneware 230 26 2 9 Made in Scotland'. This is an extremely decorative and unusual piece of stoneware which would make a brilliant addition to a collection. Please see all photographs for alternative views and close-ups.
