SOLD POTTERY ARCHIVES : British Pottery 2 : 1956 Rye Pottery Blue & White Striped Elliptical Bowl by David Sharp

SOLD

Here is a blue and white hand painted Rye Pottery elliptical bowl by David Sharp.  It is impressed to the base with the capital letter 'D' (David Sharp's monogram) which means that this particular piece was thrown in 1956 by David himself but decorated the following year after he'd left to set up Cinque Ports Pottery.  It is a particularly attractive piece, in an organic shape, with a white glazed ground and inner decorated with beautiful hand painted blue stripes to the outside.  Stamped to the base with 'MADE IN RYE POTTERY ENGLAND' and the white glazed impressed 'D'.  A highly collectable piece of retro British studio pottery.  Please see all photographs for alternative views and close-ups.

SIZE:  Height  3in/7.5cm   Length  5.5in/14cm   Width  4.5in/11.5cm    Weight  276g
