1956 Rye Pottery Blue & White Striped Mug by David Sharp

More fabulous blue and white hand painted Rye Pottery by David Sharp.  In the form of a small mug it is impressed to the base with the capital letter 'D' (David Sharp's monogram) which means that this particular piece was thrown in 1956 by David himself but decorated the following year after he'd left to set up Cinque Ports Pottery.  It is a particularly attractive piece, with horizontal incised banding around the base, with a white glazed ground and inner decorated with beautiful hand painted blue stripes to the outside.  Stamped to the base with 'MADE IN RYE POTTERY ENGLAND' and the white glazed impressed 'D'.  A highly collectable piece of retro British studio pottery.  Please see all photographs for alternative views and close-ups.
