SOLD Iden Pottery, best known for its excellent quality pottery and stoneware, was set up by the legendary Dennis Townsend in a small village called Iden, near Rye in Sussex. Dating from 1976 here is a fabulous green and black glazed tankard. The high gloss glaze has touches of brown around the rim and the horizontal banding above the darker pattern to the lower half, which is slightly raised and has an interesting surface texture. The base of the tankard is in a light cream and is clearly marked with the blue circular Iden Pottery mark which says 'IDEN POTTERY, Hand Made, RYE, SUSSEX'. This is extremely decorative and obviously a very good quality piece of hand made studio pottery which would make a brilliant addition to any Iden, Rye or studio pottery collection. SIZE: Height 5.75in/14.5cm Weight 470g (08/17)
