These square shaped Bitossi vases are relatively unusual - as with the other vases and pots this was designed by Aldo Londi for Bitossi in Italy circa 1950 (this is an early one) in the famous Rimini Blu colour combination of blue and turquoise glazes (said to have been inspired by the colours of the mediterranean).  This is a fabulous piece of retro Italian glazed pottery decorated with the impressed repeating pattern typical of this range, it is unmarked to the base (alot of these pieces aren't marked) but is unmistakeably Bitossi.  A chunky and attractive display piece and a worthy addition to any retro ceramics collection.  Please see all photographs for alternative views and close-ups.
