This section provides a home for the fantastic retro ceramics designed and manufactured by some of the Bavarian porcelain manufacturers - some well-known others less so. In styles as wide-ranging as modernist, op-art and even flower-power there were a wealth of iconic designs coming out of this part of Germany during the 1950's and more particularly the 1960's and 1970's.

The quality is unrivalled and the incredible designs make these items understandbly sought after and collected. In particular the ceramics from companies such as Eschenbach, Vohenstrauss, Hutschenreuther, KPM, Arzberg and Winterling to name just a few, are unrivalled in their radical and forward thinking design and we intend to stock many items from these names and encompassing as many styles as we can. These are absolutely charming!  Dating from the 1950s we have a set of 4 porcelain espresso cups and saucers from Retsch & Co in Wunsiedel, Bavaria.  Each cup has typically 1950s illustrations of street scenes on one side in blues, reds and yellows (the opposite sides are plain white) and featuring chic ladies wearing capri pants, circle skirts and holding parasols.  Each cup has a different illustration.  The rims of the cups and the edges of the saucers are gold-rimmed.  Absolutely gorgeous - don't miss out - where on earth would you find another set?

Dating from the late 1960s/early 1970s here is a porcelain tea/coffee trio (consisting of a cup, saucer and matching plate) in a fabulous psychedelic/flowery design in oranges, reds and browns on a bright white ground from Winterling (Bavaria, Germany).  A superb design so indicative of the period.  This price is for one trio.

From the famous German porcelain manufacturer Rosenthal offered for sale here is a Studio-Linie 'Romanze' coffee pot designed by the legendary Danish designer, Bjorn Wiinblad.  With a wonderfully stylish form in a bright white porcelain with a delicate raised surface texture/pattern and silver highlights in places this is an incredibly elegant coffee-pot.  We also have the matching lidded sugar bowl for sale separately (see below).  Fully marked to the base.

This is from Bay/Scheurich/Roth/Lava ceramics

Here's another superb vase by Sgrafo Porzellan (West Germany).  This vase taking a lovely organic waisted form in a delightful pale blue over which has been dripped a thick creamy glaze topping!  This one still bearing its original paper labels - one being the Sgrafo Porzellan sticker and the other saying 'Made in Germany'.
