Retro Ceramics - West German/Swiss/Austrian - Bavarian Pottery/Porcelain/Ceramics (3 items)
This section provides a home for the fantastic retro ceramics designed and manufactured by some of the Bavarian porcelain manufacturers - some well-known others less so. In styles as wide-ranging as modernist, op-art and even flower-power there were a wealth of iconic designs coming out of this part of Germany during the 1950's and more particularly the 1960's and 1970's.

The quality is unrivalled and the incredible designs make these items understandbly sought after and collected. In particular the ceramics from companies such as Eschenbach, Vohenstrauss, Hutschenreuther, KPM, Arzberg and Winterling to name just a few, are unrivalled in their radical and forward thinking design and we intend to stock many items from these names and encompassing as many styles as we can. To buy modern porcelain of an equivalent quality would be very pricey indeed - so why not grab yourself a retro/vintage bargain and make sure you have a browse in some of the other sections in this site while you're here.

Item code: SGRAFO-4HOLEB
1960s Sgrafo Porzellan (West Germany) Abstract Vase

What a superb vase from Sgrafo Porzellan - in a seriously funky shape of four extended square tubes - it reminds me of a sea-coral.  Glazed in a neutral stone colour over the top of which has been dripped a dark brown glaze.  These are highly collectable and not often on the market.  Marked to the base with the Sgrafo stamp and the numbers '2019'.  Please see all photographs for additional views and close-ups.

Item code: GERVEGTUREEN1
1970's Vohenstrauss (Germany) Porcelain Lidded Vegetable Tureen
£40.00

Here is a fantastic Bavarian porcelain lidded vegetable tureen made by Vohenstrauss.  It has an incredible curvy, organic shape with a diagonal ridge around the sides emphasised with a brown glaze.  With a handle to each side and an equally brilliant lid - same organic, curvy form as the body of the tureen and also enhanced with the brown glaze.  This is a very decorative piece of retro German porcelain and looks amazing on display.  Marked to the base in green with an illustration of a castle and the words 'VOHENSTRAUSS Johann Sellman BAVARIA GERMANY - Spulmaschinenfest'.   Please see all photographs for alternative views and close-ups.
