1960s/70s Pottery Piggybank
We don't (yet) know which pottery made this delightful piggybank - possibly Surrey Ceramics who made piggybanks in various different styles and colours - although this is just a tentative suggestion at the moment. Whoever made it there's no denying it's a delightful little thing - very unusual in having no legs and sitting on his tummy! Decorated to both sides with a pretty stylised floral design and glazed in an oatmeal coloured glaze so typical of the period. Please see all photographs for alternative views and close-ups. SIZE: Height 2.75in/7cm Length 4.75in/12cm Weight 205g CONDITION: Great original undamaged condition - with no chips, cracks, hairlines or restoration.

Briglin Pottery (London) Small Onion Shaped Vase with Leaf Design

The Briglin Pottery in London W1, famous for their rustic pottery and wax resist glazes, was established in 1948 by Brigitte Appleby (nee Goldschmidt) and Eileen Lewenstein. Here is an unusual small onion shaped vase with an incised leaf design highlighted with the customary rustic Briglin glazes. A very tactile little piece. Stamped with 'BRIGLIN' to the base but partially obscured having been overglazed. Please see all photographs for alternative views and close-ups.
SIZE: Height 3.5in/9cm Diameter 4in/10cm Weight 255g
CONDITION: Great original undamaged condition - with no chips, cracks, hairlines or restoration.

Briglin Pottery (London) Large Manganese Oxide & Wax Resist Decorated Coffee Pot/Lidded Jug 'Swirl' Design
From the Briglin Pottery (London) here is a gorgeous coffee pot/lidded jug (I've seen these being sold without the lid described as jugs) - in their 'Swirl' design which is applied using the manganese oxide and wax-resist white glaze technique Briglin were famous for. This is a fabulous and large piece of retro studio pottery, is marked to the base with 'BRIGLIN'. Please see all photographs for alternative views and close-ups. SIZE: Height 11.5in/29cm Weight 1128g CONDITION: The jug/main body is in gorgeous original undamaged condition - with no chips, cracks, hairlines or restoration the lid however has a chip to the underside of the inner ring (the piece that sits inside the pot). It cannot be seen when in position - only when the lid is removed and placed upside down - totally insignificant and does not detract, in our opinion - shown in the last photograph - can you spot it?

1970's Briglin Pottery (London) Dougall/Magic Roundabout Moneybox
The Briglin Pottery in London W1, famous for their rustic pottery and wax resist glazes, was established in 1948 by Brigitte Appleby (nee Goldschmidt) and Eileen Lewenstein. Dating from the 1970’s here is a brilliant Dougall moneybox from the Magic Roundabout children's TV series. It's a fabulous retro item with the typical Briglin rough surface texture to represent Dougall's luxurious fur and a white glaze to his cheeky face peeking out, this is a must for any Briglin or moneybox collector or, of course, any fan of the now legendary Magic Roundabout. Unmarked. Please see all photographs for alternative views and close-ups.
SIZE: Height 3in/7.5cm Length 4in/10cm Weight 360g

Briglin Pottery (London) Large Carved Leaves Vase circa 1970s
From the Briglin Pottery (London) here is a large cylindrical vase decorated with a scraffito/carved design of stylised leaves. This is a very impressive piece of 1970s Briglin. No marks to the base (Briglin is often left unstamped). Please see all photographs for alternative views and close-ups.
SIZE: Height 9.5in/24cm
CONDITION: Lovely original undamaged condition - no chips or cracks. The vase has an overglazed dent to the base rim in one place - totally original to manufacture and not particularly unusual for Briglin production (shown in last photograph).

Small Cinque Ports Pottery (The Monastery, Rye) Beaker
| | £10.00 | (email for availability) |
Here is an extremely pretty little beaker with a white ground and hand painted with a blue swirly pattern. Marked to the base with the circular stamp saying 'CINQUE PORTS POTTERY LTD, THE MONASTERY, RYE'. A lovely piece of retro British studio pottery. Please see all photographs for alternative views and close-ups.
SIZE: Height 3.5in/9cm Weight 118g
CONDITION: Fabulous original condition with no chips or cracks. There is a pinprick sized area of glaze loss to the rim and crazing to the surface glaze mainly to the base.
Cinque Ports Pottery was established in 1956 by former Rye Pottery employee, David Sharp, together with his friend George Cray. They continued until 1964 when they parted company and George moved to The Monastery with his production being marked as such on the back-stamp. He was very successful but handed the company over to Jim Elliot (from Iden Pottery) in the 1980's who again changed the back-stamp slightly. So we can be certain from the back-stamp on this piece that it is George Cray's production and dates from between 1964 and the 1980's.
