Dating from 1955 and designed by Frantisek Peceny for Hermanova Hut, part of the Sklo Union glassworks, here is a large pale blue glass bowl part of a compote set. In an unusual triangular form which is reminiscent of the later pressed glass bowls designed by Kaj Franck for Nuutajarvi Nottsjo (Finland). It has the typical Sklo Union glass footed/welled base. Please see all photographs for alternative views and close-ups.
SIZE: Height 4in/10cm Diameter 8.5in/21cm Weight 1450g
CONDITION: Good original condition - no chips, cracks or fleabites - surface wear commensurate with age and light use.
From the famous Swedish glass makers, Pukeberg (it still has the remains of a Pukeberg label) is this fabulous Viking figure designed by Uno Westerberg. He's standing straight and upright wearing typical Viking clothes and horned helmet and is holding a sword - this is a fab piece of retro Scandinavian glass.
SIZE: Height 5.75in/14.5cm Weight 640g
CONDITION: In great condition overall. Unfortunately, at some point it has suffered a knock to the underside which has a shallow chip (1cm length/oyster type). However, because of it's location it cannot be seen unless picked up and turned upside down so does not detract from it's display value in our opinion.
We're not sure at all who designed or manufactured this particular vase - we've often seen them attributed to the Sklo Union based on the general style, look and feel but we've been unable, so far, to find any evidenc to support this assumption. Therefore we are suggesting that this is a vase in the style of Sklo Union - a nice, thick vase in a vibrant shade of green with a pleasing shape and geometric design around the main section, it looks great on display and sits well with Sklo Union modernist inspired pieces from the same period.
SIZE: Height 6.5in/16.5cm Weight 910g
