This section is dedicated to the incredible and iconic designs from the many Italian studios during the latter half of the 20th Century. In particular we stock items from Bertoncello and the San Marino potteries as well as items from some of the many unidentified Italian studio potteries in production during the 1950's, 1960's and 1970's. This is a very exciting area with the kitsch and modernist themes, colours, textures and glazes lending themselves extremely well to contemporary interiors. We're constantly on the lookout for these types of Italian ceramics and hope to bring you many pieces with the right 'look' and pedigree.

These types of ceramics sit particularly well with other Italian makes like Bitossi as well as the crazy ceramics from West Germany during the same period.

Yet another brilliant vase by the Italian ceramics manufacturer Bertoncello dating from the 1960s or thereabouts.  In a cubed shape with two holes right through and a hole to the top for the flower stems, glazed in the customary cream and brown matt glazes - it's a striking piece that looks fabulous on display with other retro Italian ceramics and also sits very nicely with the Fat Lava West German ceramics of the same period.  A truly iconic piece of retro Italian pottery - unmarked to the base.  Please see all photographs for alternative views and close-ups.

More groovy 1960s Italian ceramics from Bertoncello.  In a triangular shape with a hole through the middle and a hole to the top for the flower stems, glazed in the customary cream and brown matt glazes - it's a striking piece that looks fabulous on display with other retro Italian ceramics and also sits very nicely with the Fat Lava West German ceramics of the same period.  A truly iconic piece of retro Italian pottery - marked to the base with '961'.  Please see all photographs for alternative views and close-ups.

This is an unusually large square Italian ceramic plaque in the Fantoni/Gambone style of a very high gloss glazed finish colourfully decorated with a stylised sailing ship in white sgraffito on a bright red splashy ground and edged with a fantastically crusty lava/volcanic glaze.  This dates from the 1960s judging from the style of decoration which is typical for the period.  Not marked to the reverse - just a plain matt black glaze as is usual for these pieces.  Please see all photographs for alternative views and close-ups.
