SOLD The great thing about chimney vases is that so many of the West German ceramics manufacturers made their own versions of these during the 1960s. This one is from U-Keramik decorated with a lilac ground with a nice black and white lava glaze dripping down from the top and with it's original foil label. In an interesting shape with a handle and glazed with a warm terracotta coloured ground and an unusual textured pattern to the surface in a rich chocolate brown, with a turquoise glaze to the inside. SOLD A brilliant piece of retro West German pottery from Bay Keramik and designed by the legendary Bodo Mans dating from the 1960s or thereabouts. This is relatively scarce and is decorated with a fabulous impressed pattern in vibrant blue and turquoise high gloss glazes, very reminiscent of the Italian Bitossi Rimini Blu ceramics of the same period. It sits very nicely with other German or Italian pieces (Bay, Scheurich, Bitossi Raymor for example). In a great retro shape and fully marked to the base with 'Bay W Germany 953-20'. Very much in the same vein as the orange and grey Strehla plant pot below, this has been underglazed in a vibrant red high gloss and then partially overglazed in a thick crusty black lava leaving the red peaking through in places - it's fabulous! SOLD This is an interesting piece of retro East German pottery from the Strehla factory. In an unusual cube/square shape with a glossy blue ground and decorated to two sides only with a swirly black pumice glazed pattern - the other two sides being plain blue glaze. No marks to the base other than the word 'Foreign' stamped in white which means this would originally have been manufactured for the export market. A very decorative item. This is a fabulously groovy piece of retro pottery by the relatively unknown West German ceramics manufacturer Klein. In a lovely dumpy pumpkin shape with a bright orangey red gloss glazed lower half and the top half covered in a magnificently crusty black lava glaze. It has three holes to the top and a pattern of six raised circles to the front (the top two obscured by the thick lava glaze). All in all this is a brilliant pot that would look fantastic in any Fat Lava collection. In an unusual, stylised shape (it matches the handled piece shown below) and with an angular rim - this is very decorative. Here is an extremely pretty set of six East German eggcups by Strehla VEB in a pale blue/lilac ground decorated to the front and back with a crusty lava glazed decoration of blue stylised flowers.
