Bitossi are well known for their crazy stylised animal sculptures - and here is a fabulous long slinky cat.   Designed by Aldo Londi for Bitossi in Italy circa 1960 in the famous Rimini Blu colour combination of blue and turquoise glazes (said to have been inspired by the colours of the mediterranean) - this is a really nice piece of retro Italian glazed pottery decorated with the impressed repeating pattern so typical of this range.  It is marked to the base with '69/25 ITALY' - a striking and worthy addition to any retro ceramics collection.  Please see all photographs for alternative views and close-ups.

This is an extremely unusual shaped piece of Bitossi pottery - in a charming oval leaf shape and with four feet - the first footed one and in this shape we've seen.  Designed by Aldo Londi for Bitossi in Italy circa 1960 in the famous Rimini Blu colour combination of blue and turquoise glazes (said to have been inspired by the colours of the mediterranean) and decorated with the impressed repeating pattern so typical of this range.  Marked to the base with '61/662 ITALY' it still bears the remains of a retailers sticker which says 'Imported exclusively by ......  LONDON' - unfortunately the name of the company that it was imported by cannot be read.  Please see all photographs for alternative views and close-ups.

Here is an extremely unusual, both in terms of colour and shape, red cylindrical Bitossi vase circa 1960.  This is a really nice piece of retro Italian glazed pottery decorated with an impressed repeating pattern typical of ceramics from this factory, more usually found in the Aldo Londi designed Rimini Blu colourway.  it is marked to the base very faintly with a hand-painted 'Italy' which can only just about be read.  This is a striking display piece and an impressive addition to any retro ceramics collection.  Please see all photographs for alternative views and close-ups.

This is an extremely unusual red bulbous Bitossi vase circa 1960.  This is a really nice piece of retro Italian glazed pottery decorated with an impressed repeating pattern typical of ceramics from this factory, more usually found in the Aldo Londi designed Rimini Blu colourway.  It is not marked to the base (many pieces weren't) and would surely be an impressive addition to any retro ceramics collection.  Please see all photographs for alternative views and close-ups.

This is the most impressive and funkiest pottery ashtray we've found so far - it's very large and heavy and we love the way the brown, almost wooden effect to the glaze around the rim complements the incredible vibrant orange and yellow glazes of the bowl.  We're estimating this piece to have been manufactured by either Bitossi or Raymor during the 1960's (it is stamped very clearly to the base with 'ITALY').  The rim has impressed 'scrolls' plus cigarette rests to two sides and the bowl is impressed with a flower pattern.  This is a fab ashtray that looks incredible on display - we'd suggest it was also fairly unusual in both colour and style having not seen any others (yet!) and would make a very decorative addition to any retro ceramics collection.  Please see all photographs for alternative views and close-ups.

Here is a very pretty small Italian ceramic ashtray in the Fantoni/Gambone style.  It has a black ground and is decorated with a stylised girl in red, white, yellow and blue glazes and the word 'PESARO' (an Italian seaside resort) on a bright red high gloss glaze.  This would have been made originally as a good luck/tourist souvenir and probably dates from the 1960's/1970's.  This is a really fab piece of retro Italian pottery.  Unmarked to base.

This is another really groovy small Italian ceramic vase, with a lava/volcanic type black and white glaze all around except for the front panel of a bright red splashy ground, a matt black panel decorated with a scraffito 1960s girl with yellow, orange and blue gloss glazes and a turquoise glazed interior.  This is an extremely pretty piece of retro Italian pottery.  Marked to the base in white with 'MELIOR, ITALY'.  Please see all photographs for alternative views and close-ups.

Dating from the 1960s or thereabouts here is an olive green gloss glazed pottery bottle vase with a long slender neck and a bulbous base.  The olive green ground is very slightly stripey (see photographs for close-ups) and the base has a repeating impressed Bitossi like pattern  around.  Painted to the base with 'Salerno Italy'.  Please see all photographs for alternative views and close-ups.

Another truly beautiful piece of retro Italian high gloss glazed ceramics dating from the 1960's.  This takes the form of a largish plate, not quite round in shape, and decorated with a stylised sgraffito design of a girl with flowers - the illustration is signed to the bottom right.  Nice bright colours on a red splashy ground over black pottery.  The back is plain matt black with hanging holes and is scratched with a signature, which we haven't been able to decipher, and '208 Italy'.  Please see all photographs for alternative views and close-ups.

Here is an extremely pretty and decorative small Italian ceramic plaque in the Fantoni/Gambone style of a very high gloss glazed finish colourfully decorated with a stylised girl with a skipping rope in white sgraffito on a bright red splashy ground dating from the 1960's judging from the typical look of the decoration.  Rectangular in shape, not marked to the reverse other than an impressed '12' it has a matt black back with hanging holes. - superb!  Please see all photographs for alternative views and close-ups.
