Pair of Iittala (Finland) 'Ultima Thule' Candleholders designed by Tapio Wirkkala
Pair of Iittala (Finland) 'Ultima Thule' Candleholders designed by Tapio Wirkkala

SOLD

Designed by the legendary late Tapio Wirkkala for Iittala (Finland) in 1968 here is a pair of 'Ultima Thule' candleholders - I've had bowls and glasses but never candleholders so I'd suggest that these were pretty rare.  One still has the remains of the Iittala sticker and above it a slight manufacturing fault - not significant in my opinion and shown in the photograph of the sticker just above it.  These are fabulous pieces of retro Finnish glass from a great designer and an iconic range.  Please see all photographs for alternative views and close-ups.

Two Iittala (Finland) 'Kartio' Small Glass Tumblers by Kaj Franck
Two Iittala (Finland) 'Kartio' Small Glass Tumblers by Kaj Franck

SOLD

Here is a fantastic pair of small blue glass tumblers designed in 1958 by Kaj Franck for the famous Finnish manufacturer Iittala as part of his 'Kartio' range.  The photograph doesn't really depict the true 'blueness' of the glass, being deeper in colour and less transparent in reality.  They're thick and heavy and you can feel the quality - they display beautifully near a light source and would make a lovely gift or addition to a glass collection.  Still bearing their original 'Iittala' manufacturer's labels and marked to the bases with 'Kaj Franck Iittala'.  We also have a pair of matching candleholders for sale.  Please see all photographs for alternative views and close-ups.

c: 1960 Set of Six Scandinavian Aubergine Coloured Glass Hi-Ball Tumblers

SOLD

Here is a set of six very elegant tall aubergine coloured glass hi-ball tumblers.  In a fabulous straight cylindrical shape they're extremely good quality glasses made from a vibrant coloured glass.  We're estimating these to date from the 1960s or thereabouts - and are not certain which maker to attribute them to but from the look and feel think they're almost certainly Scandinavian - probably Finnish.  They would make a great gift and would be a pleasure to sip from.  Please see all photographs for alternative views and close-ups.
