1960s Vallauris (France) Set of 4 Glazed Pottery Bowls This is from Other Retro Ceramics
SOLD
Vallauris is a small town in the South of France (near Antibes) with a very strong history of pottery and probably best known for the pottery produced there by Picasso from the late 1940s through to the mid 1950s. There would have been (and still are) a number of independent potteries in the town and it's not always possible to pin items down to a specific maker unless they're specifically marked. These bowls take an interesting curvy organic form with a small hole/handle to one end, glazed all over with a matt coppery/black glaze and the inside of each bowl dripped with a glorious thick and foamy turquoise glaze. Stamped to the undersides with 'Vallauris'. A very decorative and unusual set.
