These are simply gorgeous - a pair of stainless steel lidded containers with smoked glass removable liners - designed by the legendary Robert Welch for Old Hall. Engraved to the lids, one with 'J' and the other with 'M', they're obviously for use at the breakfast table to contain jam and marmalade, there is a hole in the lids to house the spoons. These are not only very usable items but also highly collectable. Marked to the bases with 'Designed by R Welch, Old Hall England, 18/8 Stainless Steel, Regd 933083 IN UK.' We have two of these lidded butter dishes but decided to keep one for ourselves! It's circular with two opposing winged handles, has a circular lid and still has it's original removable pressed glass insert. We use ours everyday and also when we're entertaining - it's functional and decorative and we'd estimate it to date from the 1960s. Stamped faintly to the underside with 'Stainless Steel Cavalier Made in England.'
SIZE: Width 5.75in/14.5cm Weight 505g
CONDITION: Surface scratching/wear consistent with age and use but no dents to the stainless steel and no chips, cracks or fleabites to the glass inner.
This is not only useful it's also decorative. Here we have a circular lidded stainless steel serving dish with winged handles on two opposite sides and a wooden handle/knob to the lid (either teak or rosewood). Dating from the 1960s it's stamped faintly to the underside of one 'wing' with 'Stainless Steel 18/8 Bramah Sheffield Eng'.

Here is a very useful small Danish stainless steel nibbles dish with rosewood handles dating from the 1960's or thereabouts. These dishes are brilliant when entertaining - this one is just the right size to contain nuts or olives - and with their modernist styling they make a real retro statement. Stamped to the underside with 'Stainless Steel Denmark 18-8'.

Here is a particularly decorative small Danish stainless steel nibbles dish in an unusual teardrop shape dating from the 1960's or thereabouts. Still in its box with the plastic lid overprinted with 'Stainless Steel Denmark' (the box and lid are rather shabby however). The dish is marked to the base with 'STAINLESS 18/8 DENMARK'.
