Sklo Union/Czech Glass

Retro Glass - Sklo Union (Czech) - Sklo Union/Czech Glass (6 items)
Here we are proud to offer an exciting selection of the fabulous retro pressed glass from the Sklo Union glass works, Czechoslovakia and dating mostly from the 1960s and 1970s.

Sklo Union, formed in 1965, consisted of a number of Czech glassworks including Hermanova Hut, Rosice, Libochovice and Rudolfova Hut and were responsible for producing incredibly modernist designed glassware, seemingly way ahead of their time, and designed by legendary names such as Frantisek Vizner, Vladislav Urban, Rudolf Jurnikl, Adolf Matura and Frantisek Peceny amongst others.

This is an area of glass we are hugely excited about and believe will become increasingly more appreciated, documented and collected as time goes on. Our very grateful thanks to Marcus Newhall, researcher and writer for his very generous assistance in helping us to learn more about this fascinating area of glass and, of course, his friendship. We are very pleased to announce that Marcus' long awaited book 'Sklo Union, Art Before Industry: 20th Century Czech Pressed Glass' was launched recently and is now available for purchase at www.sklounion.com. It is packed with stunning photographs and essential information and comes with an Interactive CD Rom containing a searchable reference library of over 4500 pieces. Get your copy today!
