SOLD

Here is a pair of fantastic quality Finnish blue glass tumblers designed in 1958 by Kaj Franck for Iittala (marked on the bases).  The photograph doesn't really depict the true 'blueness' of the glass, being deeper in colour and less transparent in reality.  They're thick and heavy and you can feel the quality - they display beautifully near a light source and would make a lovely gift or addition to a glass collection.  Please see all photographs for alternative views and close-ups.

This is another lovely early piece of Mdina circa 1970 - an Inside Out vase bearing a nice early feature, the applied prunt stamped with the Maltese cross.  These particular vases were designed by Michael Harris and only in production whilst he was still at the Mdina glassworks.   This one is particularly thick and heavy and is made from very swirly turquoise, clear and yellow glass to the outside and a vibrant yellow to the inside - the typical and trademark early palate of Mdina colours.  Unsigned (again another early feature) with a flat polished base.  Please see all photographs for alternative views and close-ups.

Mdina (Malta) Orange Glass Vase with applied Random Turquoise Strapping
Mdina (Malta) Orange Glass Vase with applied Random Turquoise Strapping

SOLD

This is a relatively unusual combination of colours for Mdina, more usually known for their meditteranean inspired shades of blue and turquoise.  This vase, however, is a vibrant orange glass with thick turquoise trails/strapping randomly applied around the outside - it's a very pretty piece that catches and reflects the light beautifully.  It has the trademark Mdina flat and flared rim and is unsigned which would suggest a 1970's piece of production.  Please see all photographs for alternative views and close-ups.

1950's/1960's Murano Sommerso Geode Glass Bowl (Seguso/Cenedese)
1950's/1960's Murano Sommerso Geode Glass Bowl (Seguso/Cenedese)

SOLD

This is spectacular - a beautiful Murano/Sommerso 'Geode' bowl in amber and green glass thickly encased in clear.  As you can see it catches the light beautifully - this piece displays especially well if positioned near a light source; real or artificial.  It's heavy and tactile - the lovely round bowl contrasting well against the hard sharp line of the rim.  In my opinion this is Italian glass at it's very best, a real collector's piece.  With regard to the designer we believe it's either Seguso or Cenedese.  Please see all photographs for alternative views and close-ups.
