Whitefriars Glass

Retro Glass - British - Whitefriars Glass (5 items)
This section of our site concentrates on the beautiful quality retro glass from Whitefriars - with items designed by the legendary Geoffrey Baxter, William Wilson and Harry Dyer amongst others and in the trademark vibrant Whitefriars colours and shapes.

One of the things that particularly interest us in British retro glass from the 1950’s, 1960’s and 1970’s is the huge variety available to collectors – both in terms of production and price. This period of British glass making produced breathtaking studio pieces; stylish and elegant art glass; fabulously kitsch and psychedelic glassware for everyday use and, of course, the brightly coloured and highly textured glass from Whitefriars - there is something to suit every taste and budget and all have earned an equal place here in Pips Trip.

We very much hope you like our selection of Whitefriars glass.

1966 Whitefriars Glass Large Ceramic Trailed Vase in Shadow Green (Pattern 9637)

code: CERAMICTRAILED
1966 Whitefriars Glass Large Ceramic Trailed Vase in Shadow Green (Pattern 9637)

Dating from 1966 and designed by Geoffrey Baxter for Whitefriars here is a large Shadow Green ceramic (or enamel) trailed soda glass vase - pattern number 9637.  Only in production for a year or so few were made and, coupled with the fact that the ceramic trails proved problematic setting at different temperatures from the glass, even fewer left the factory - this is therefore a scarce item.

SIZE:   Height 10.5in/26.5cm

CONDITION:  Good original condition with no damage.  There is a degree of surface scratching to the outside and inside there's what looks at first inspection to be a triangular shaped burst bubble (not visible from the outside) but which I suspect is more likely to be an anomaly caused by the tongs during manufacture.  This has been reflected in the price however.
